Executive Leadership

Marvin Merritt (CEO)
As CFO, Marvin brings over 40 years of financial experience to both HSMG and our clients. He oversees financial strategy for HSMG plans, investor relationship management, and resources development. Marvin provides the development and refinement of new HSMG products and services.
​
Marvin's career began as an accountant at Deloitte Touche. Subsequently, he established a full-service CPA practice which he ran for 15 years. For 10 years Marvin was a part-owner of a document management company before it was sold. Marvin has also participated as a partner with Credit Lease Investments, LLC, a private placement lender.
​
Marvin taught accounting at the McGregor School, Antioch University’s graduate business program, Marvin also served as the Director of an Entrepreneurial Program at the University of Dayton for 6 years.

Richard (Dick) Mayer (CSO)
As the Chief Sales Officer (CSO), Dick has 50 years of experience in the life insurance industry specializing in the funding of corporate benefit plans, He was President of ECS, lnc., an insurance consulting firm established in 1979. Throughout his career, Dick has designed and implemented insurance programs for some of the country's most prestigious Fortune 500 companies.

Dick founded the National Association of Physicians & Surgeons which had over 10,000 members when it was sold. Dick collaborated on the development of a very profitable new insurance product that was sold to the Prudential Life Insurance company.
​
Other Accomplishments:

Author of "Planning for the Affluent" written for attorneys and accountants.

Earned two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star in the Korean war.

Gregory Sagan (CIO)
Greg’s contributions include oversight of HSMG’s systems automation and the development of all information management policies, procedures, and operational systems including accounting and financial management infrastructure. Greg brings over 30 years of experience in the information technology industry as a software and hardware architect specializing in system integration, document capture & storage, content retrieval & delivery solutions, and inter-company workflow automation.

One of Greg’s many accomplishments was the implementation of The World Intellectual Property Organization's international patient filing system.

Advisory Board

​James Breck
Jim provides advisory guidance to HSMG in areas related to the management of the underwriting process, policy administration and interfacing with insurance carriers. His many years in the insurance industry has produced solid relationships with most of the Grade A carriers.
​
For the past 15 years, Jim has been the Director - Business Development for NFP: Insurance Brokerage and Consulting firm. Previous to NFP, Jim was a Principal with Brown Bridgman & Company for 20 years. Before that, Jim was the President of MBB, Inc. Jim is a licensed Insurance Broker and Variable Contracts Product Representative.

Carmen Scott
Carmen is an expert in general, financial, and transactional accounting. She advises HSMG on the accounting and financial systems development, implementation, staffing, and training. Carmen has over 20 years in executive management positions with over 16 years at the McDonald’s Corporation where she handled the P&L responsibilities for over 14,000 corporate locations in the US and Canada. She was also the manager of the Corporate Banking and Real Estate Tax team.

Brea Smith
Brea's specialty is corporate administration management. She organizes executives so that they operate at their maximum levels of efficiency. In her advisory position at HSMG, her consistent structured approach to day-to-day helps keep HSMG team members focused on productive issues.

Brea’s career, which has spanned different industries including credit unions, banking, and medical practices, has offered her different opportunities to organize people and businesses.

Ramon Merritt
Ramon contributes to HSMG direction in new product launches and enhancements to benefit individuals with student debt elimination. He is an accomplished product manager and market leader with a "customer-first" mindset experience in business management, new product development, and sales support. Ramon’s experience was gained while working for a top 10 US Credit Card Company and two fortune 500 companies.

Blane Rockafellow
Blane brings a wealth of corporate development and operations experience. His advisory duties focus on HSMG’s advertising, marketing, and brand management. Other areas where Blane contributes include corporate partnership establishment and outcome analysis of investment proposals.
​
Blane has more than 30 years of experience with business startups and Fortune 500 organizations where the positions held included CEO and other Executive levels. Leveraging his experience, Blane has presented numerous times to international MBA programs at Duke University and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, as well as in private seminars and global conferences.
